Strengthening International Climate Action
We are working as an international community to strengthen international climate action and to ensure G20 countries hold their commitments to keep global heating 'well below' 1.5°C.To avoid the worst impacts of climate change, G20 countries in this region must rapidly scale up climate solutions and commit to a just end to funding and approval of fossil fuel projects now.
International climate negotiations can often feel removed from, and immune to, advocacy led by individuals and collectives working on local and regional climate impacts and solutions. However, historical achievements at COPs such as '1.5°C within the Paris Agreement’ and the ‘Loss and Damage Fund’ prove that with focus and collaboration people do have the power to influence international climate policy. We invite you to join us in continuing to harness this power! |
Climate Reality COP priorities
On the road to future COPs, we are working with Climate Reality Leaders (CRLs) and diverse stakeholders to build a bridge between UNFCCC processes and regional climate action– a pathway that incites more ambitious (and inclusive) climate outcomes before, during and after upcoming COPs.
Climate Action Plans to Keep 1.5°C Alive!Under the Paris Agreement, countries must submit national climate action plans (NDCs) for the next decade in 2025. We must demand Nationally Determined Contributions that can meet our Paris goals and stop rising temperatures. |
Finance a Just Transition for allG20 countries primarily responsible for climate breakdown must increase and make good on their climate finance commitments - and ensure fair financing to support a renewable energy transition in the Global South that is equitable, just, and responsive to the needs of teh communities. |
Make the COP Fit for PurposeFor too long, fossil fuel interests have used outdated UN rules and processes to stall progress at COP summits and beyond. We're working for a new process that can effectively bring countries together to stop global warming and prevent climate catastrophe. |
PACIFIC COP IN 2026Australia's bid to host COP31 in partnership with Pacific Island Countries in 2026:The formal offer of Australia to host COP31 in partnership with Pacific Islands presents a unique opportunity to host a successful COP that advances much needed action on cliamte change and reflects the diverse climate interests of the region.
Pacific Island leaders have played an instrumental role in shaping international climate negotiations. Taking demonstrated Pacific leadership into consideration in Australia’s bid to host COP31 with Pacific Nations, Australia must immediately scale up their climate ambition to demonstrate genuine commitment. This will require phasing out fossil fuels and their subsidies this decade, and significantly increasing climate finance for renewables, loss and damage, and adaptation in the region. Acting in genuine partnership while planning well in advance of the hosting of a COP allows a broader set of goals to be pursued to maximise effective action on climate change at scale. |

How you can get involvedAs part of our Community of Practice, we are hosting a series of events that will empower participants. We're currently focusing on advocacy - a powerful tool to influence change. We will provide support by:▷ Providing participants with access to an information pack filled with resources.
▷ Offering workshops on specific advocacy tools, such as how to host a Kitchen Table Conversation (KTC), or meeting with Members of Parliament. ▷ Highlighting opportunities to connect with others in this community to learn from their experiences and share your own. If you're hosting a Kitchen Table Conversation, Talanoa or Hui with the above resources, we would love to see a photo of your climate action! Images can be sent to [email protected]. It is always important to gain consent from people you are taking photographs with... download our resource 'Why Image Consent Matters' available here.

KITCHEN TABLE CONVERSATION TESTIMONIALS
ANDREW BESTClimate Reality Leader - NSW, Australia"The KTC materials sent to me were really useful and made the meeting flow well. I had about 50% of my church congregation stay for the meeting and it was good to hear what concerned them most about climate change. It was great to do a community listening activity. The highlight for me was the resolve of the group to have a bipartisan approach from both sides of politics. Also the resolve of the group to have both sides of politics work beyond election cycles and to elevate the subject of climate change back to where it was ten years ago." |

COP30 BRAZILIt’s been 10 years since the Paris Agreement and we can’t afford for fossil fuel lobbyists to continue to delay progress on climate change by interfering with COP negotiations in Brazil. The world needs true leadership at COPs to keep the promise of the Paris Agreement and 1.5°C alive. Send a message to COP30 Leadership today.
