OUR SMOKE SIGNAL
Setting off down the scree slopes of Mt. Angelus, New Zealand, I didn't notice the smoke at first.
The previous day, we had climbed through clouds for hours until emerging at 1,650 meters to a spectacular view of a clear blue sky and the hut resting alongside Lake Angelus, where we welcomed in the New Year.

RED CHRISTMAS
We are cutting across the Christmas Eve sky slower and more deliberately than previous years. The visibility is poor. I am at the front, lighting our path. I have a sense of deja vu, strong flashbacks to the first year I was asked to lead and the thick fog that shifted like the herd’s mentality towards my involvement.

Last month was the opening for my first ever public artwork, showcased on the Southern Cross University’s videowall in Lismore. Named ‘Facing our Future’, the video overlays quotes from climate scientists and climate change experts with satellite images of the Earth.

Where did the frost go? What changing frost patterns mean for your Canberra garden
This autumn we harvested summer beans until almost the end of April - an unexpected bonus harvest because the frosts took so long to arrive this year. This may be part of an emerging trend. Did you know that Canberra’s winter nights are forecast to get warmer over the coming years?
